Program and Project Development

The STDC Criminal Justice Planning (CJP) Program coordinates and assists city/county agencies and nonprofit groups with community planning, provides technical assistance for grant writing and administration, and conducts grant reviews in conjunction with the Criminal Justice Division of the Office of the Governor.

Criminal Justice Advisory Committee

The STDC Public Protection Advisory Committee reviews and prioritizes grant applications for submission to the Criminal Justice Division of the Office of the Governor for funding consideration.

Regional Police Officer Training

The STDC contracts with the Laredo College Regional Law Enforcement Academy for the provision of basic peace officer certification training and advanced continuation education to the region’s peace officers under license from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. The academy provides training services to four(4) county sheriff’s departments, six (6) local police departments, and over twenty (20) state and federal law enforcement agencies.
